Mayor Köksal “We are establishing collaboration with European cities”

Menteşe Municipality hosted Dr. Bernd Vöhringer, President of the Local Authorities Chamber of the Congress within the Council of Europe and Mayor of Sindelfingen, along with his delegation, in Menteşe to strengthen cooperation with the Municipality of Sindelfingen, Germany.

Mayor of Menteşe Municipality and City Planner Gonca Köksal, along with Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras, made important contacts with the German delegation they hosted and stated that:

“We have a unique heritage with our natural and cultural wealth, local flavors and lifestyle. We aim to promote these values on international platforms and strengthen our cooperation in cultural, technological, commercial, social and artistic fields by establishing friendly relations with cities in Europe. The visit of Dr. Bernd Vöhringer, President of the Local Authorities Chamber of the Congress within the Council of Europe and Mayor of Sindelfingen, is of great importance in this respect. We prepared a comprehensive sightseeing program for our guests. We showed them historical sites in Menteşe, the first city in Türkiye to have a conservation-zoning plan, and then Karabağlar Plateau, a third-degree urban protected area with a special air and water circulation. Thanks to the bridges of friendship we have built, we will collaborate in areas such as multicultural events; youth exchange programs, digitalization and smart cities. We are determinedly continuing our efforts to make Menteşe a city known not only in our country but also abroad for its nature, culture, tourism and local flavours.”
