Mayor Aras emphasized the historical significance of the 90th anniversary of the rights granted to Turkish women to vote and run for office through amendments to the Constitution and Election Law on December 5, 1934. In his speech, he highlighted that this reform, initiated under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, not only influenced women’s rights in Turkey but also inspired the global struggle for women’s rights, breaking down barriers for women worldwide. Mayor Aras expressed pride in commemorating this historic milestone on an international platform.

He also pointed out Muğla’s 1,480 km long coastline, emphasizing its role as a crucial transit and transfer point in migration movements. Mayor Aras highlighted the importance of developing policies that are respectful of human rights, sustainable, and inclusive during this process, as well as the relevant initiatives and efforts of institutions working in this field.

Mayor Aras emphasized the importance of preserving the diversity within Muğla’s communities and creating an inclusive society where everyone has equal rights, freedoms, and living spaces. In this context, he stated his goal of fostering an environment where differences are seen as strengths, where people come together around shared values, and where solidarity and a culture of coexistence are strengthened.

Mayor Aras concluded his speech by highlighting the indispensable role of established international solidarity and cooperation.
