12 Sep Mayor Aras Returned from France with Powerful Cooperation Projects
Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras held various contacts in France between 9th and 11th September.
Continuing his vision of “World City Muğla”, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality and Union of Coastal Aegean Municipalities President Ahmet Aras, made various visits and examinations in France regarding agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, climate crisis, maritime, sustainability, and recycling.
The visit of the Mayor of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Ahmet Aras to France commenced with studies focusing on sustainable agriculture and tourism in the Côte d’Azur region, as well as partnerships and co-operations to be developed in the face of the climate crisis. Informative meetings were held in the Aix-en-Provence region on organic agriculture, olive cultivation and vineyards, and these practices were observed on site. Mayor Aras had a meeting with Agnès Rampal, Deputy Mayor of Nice, Vice Mayor of the Côte d’Azur Metropolis, Vice President of the Euromed Cities Network, and President of AVITEM (Agency for Sustainable Mediterranean Cities and Regions), in the field of city diplomacy. Discussions were held between the two geographically similar Mediterranean cities on topics including tourism, sustainability, the climate crisis, maritime issues, biodiversity conservation, environmental protection, and urban planning. Thomas de Parente, Deputy Mayor of Cannes responsible for tourism and international relations, was also visited to discuss establishing co-operation between Muğla and Cannes in areas such as tourism, maritime, yachting, renewable energy, sustainability, cultural tourism, spreading tourism through the whole year, developing cultural and social relations. An agreement was reached to quickly coordinate the international relations teams of both municipalities. Additionally, Mayor Aras visited the 2024 Yachting Festival in Cannes and contacted with companies from Turkey participating in the event.
