He noted a 20% increase in tourist numbers thanks to promotional efforts at international tourism fairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The panel, titled <em>\u201cMu\u011fla Tourism: Past, Present, and Future,\u201d<\/em> was held as part of Tourism Week. The event aimed to support the development of the tourism sector, assess its current potential, and define future sustainable strategies. Attendees included former Minister of Tourism Bahattin Y\u00fccel, Mente\u015fe District Governor Mehmet Eri\u015f, Mayor of Mu\u011fla Metropolitan Municipality and President of the Coastal Aegean Municipalities Union Ahmet Aras, the Rector of Mu\u011fla S\u0131tk\u0131 Ko\u00e7man University Prof. Dr. Turhan Ka\u00e7ar, Provincial Director of Tourism H\u00fcseyin Toprak, tourism stakeholders, and Non-Governmental Organisations\u2019 representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mayor Aras: \u201cWe Launched a New Era of Vision in Mu\u011fla Tourism\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the screening of a documentary about the ancient city of Stratonikeia\u2014one of Mu\u011fla\u2019s cultural treasures\u2014Mayor Aras outlined key tourism projects initiated since he took office. \u201cIn our first year, we quickly implemented previously neglected efforts and took major steps that shaped the city&#8217;s tourism vision. We founded the \u2018Mu\u011fla Tourism Research and Strategy Development Platform\u2019 to guide local tourism policy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1366\" src=\"https:\/\/worldcitymugla.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/turizm.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1338\" style=\"width:538px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cWe Achieved a 20% Increase in Tourist Numbers\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mayor Aras stated that they aim to diversify tourism and spread it across 12 months with the vision of \u201cWorld City Mu\u011fla.\u201d He explained that Mu\u011fla participated in major global tourism fairs in London, Berlin, Moscow, and Istanbul alongside sector stakeholders. \u201cThese efforts significantly boosted the city\u2019s visibility. In the first two months of 2024, we hosted 23,035 tourists; in the same period of 2025, the figure rose by 20% to 27,660,\u201d he said, adding that they will continue promoting Mu\u011fla in new markets like Dubai and China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cA Master Plan for Mu\u011fla Tourism with Academic Support\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emphasizing inclusive collaboration, Mayor Aras said they work closely with chambers of commerce, associations of hoteliers, travel agencies, tour guides, and academics. \u201cTo ensure planned development, we prepared the Mu\u011fla Tourism Master Plan in cooperation with Mu\u011fla S\u0131tk\u0131 Ko\u00e7man University\u2019s Faculty of Tourism and Technology Transfer Office.
