Bodrum\ncame under Persian control in 386 BC. Halicarnassus experienced its brightest\nperiod in 353 BC when it became the capital of the Carian region. In 1407, Bodrum was taken by the Knights of Rhodes,\nand it became part of the Ottoman Empire in 1523 during the reign of Suleiman\nthe Magnificent.
